Description

This is probably the most tender, caramelized, flavorful roast and gravy ever. The sugar in the Coke is what tenderizes the meat, so don't use diet. It's a low stress meal that's good enough to serve to company.

Ingredients

2.5 lb. beef chuck roast, or the size roast and the amount of vegetables needed to feed your family
1 can cream of mushroom soup or favorite cream of soup
1 package dry onion soup mix
12 oz. Coca-Cola or Pepsi Cola, but NOT DIET
red potatoes, halved
carrots, cut into chunks

Place roast in the crock pot; sprinkle on the dry onion soup mix; place vegetables around the roast.

In a bowl, stir together the cream of mushroom soup and the Coca-Cola/Pepsi; pour over the roast.

Set the crock pot on Low; cook for 6-8 hours. The longer the meat is cooked, the more tender it becomes.

The liquid makes a great gravy. Pour the extra over the red potatoes.
