Making pulled pork in the slow cooker is the way to go. Cook it in Dr. Pepper and BBQ sauce for a hint of sweetness. It's moist, tender and delicious.
3-4 lb. pork roast
1 T. paprika
1/2 t. black pepper
1/4 t. cayenne pepper
1/2 t. garlic powder
1/2 t. onion powder
1 t. salt
12 oz. can Dr. Pepper
1 c. BBQ sauce
rolls or sandwich buns, for serving
In a small bowl, combine paprika, pepper, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder and salt; rub over pork roast.
In a lightly greased slow cooker, whisk together Dr. Pepper and BBQ sauce. Place the roast in the slow cooker. Cover; cook on Low for 8-10 hours.
Remove roast from slow cooker to a platter or cutting board. Shred with 2 forks. Return meat to the slow cooker; toss with cooking liquid. If there is too much liquid, remove some before returning the meat to the slow cooker.
Serve on sandwich buns or rolls with more BBQ sauce, if desired.
8-10 servings.
