Description
This classic chili is ready in a little over an hour. It's mild, so if you want it spicy, add some red pepper flakes, cumin and/or cayenne pepper.
Ingredients
- 2 T. bacon drippings or oil
- 1/2 c. chopped yellow onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced, optional
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 14 oz. can diced or crushed tomatoes or tomato juice
- 2-3 15 oz. cans mild chili beans with the juices
- 2 t. chili powder
- 3/4 t. salt
- 1/8-1/4 t. black pepper
- 16 oz. beef chili roll/brick
Steps
- Saute the onion in the becon drippings or oil; add the ground beef and garlic; cook until no pink remains. Discard excess grease.
- Add canned tomatoes or tomato juice, chili beans, chili powder, salt, pepper and a chili roll/brick; stir.
- Simmer 1 hour.
