Description

This classic chili is ready in a little over an hour. It's mild, so if you want it spicy, add some red pepper flakes, cumin and/or cayenne pepper.

Ingredients

  • 2 T. bacon drippings or oil
  • 1/2 c. chopped yellow onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced, optional
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 14 oz. can diced or crushed tomatoes or tomato juice
  • 2-3 15 oz. cans mild chili beans with the juices
  • 2 t. chili powder
  • 3/4 t. salt
  • 1/8-1/4 t. black pepper
  • 16 oz. beef chili roll/brick

Steps

  1. Saute the onion in the becon drippings or oil; add the ground beef and garlic; cook until no pink remains. Discard excess grease.
  2. Add canned tomatoes or tomato juice, chili beans, chili powder, salt, pepper and a chili roll/brick; stir.
  3. Simmer 1 hour.
