1 lb. ground beef
1 c. bread crumbs
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. diced onion
1/2 c. diced green bell pepper
1 c. sliced mushrooms
1 T. Worcestershire sauce
1 t. garlic powder
salt and pepper, to taste
1 c. Provolone cheese, sliced
1/2 c. beef broth
1/4 c. ketchup
2 T. brown sugar
1 t. mustard
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, milk, onion, bell pepper, mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Press half of the meat mixture into a loaf pan. Place the cheese slices over the meat, leaving a small border around the edges. Cover with the remaining meat mixture, pressing the edges to seal.
In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard; pour over the meatloaf.
Bake 1 hour or until the meatloaf is cooked through; let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Serve hot.
