Crispy Funnel Cake Sticks

Description

Enjoy the taste of traditional funnel cakes at home with these funnel cake sticks. They are sweet, delicious, and easy to make.

Ingredients

2 c. all-purpose flour
2 T. sugar
2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
2 large eggs
1 1/2 c. milk
1 t. vanilla extract
vegetable oil, for frying
powdered sugar, for dusting
melted chocolate, for optional dipping

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.

Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 375 degrees F.

Pour the batter into a squeeze bottle with a wide opening or in a piping bag that has been fitted with a large round tip.

Squeeze the batter into the hot oil in long, thin strips, cooking a few at a time. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.

Transfer the funnel cake fries with a slotted spoon to drain on a paper towel lined platter.

Immediately dust the hot fries generously with powdered sugar and or melted chocolate for dipping.
