Description
Satisfy your pizza cravings in a healthier way with these crustless pizza bowls. They are low-carb and keto-friendly and can be vegetarian if desired. Make it fun by letting everyone customize their own bowl.
Ingredients
2 c. pizza or marinara sauce (low sugar)
1-2 sweet Italian sausages, casings removed *
2 c. pizza toppings **
2 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Spray 4 medium, oven-safe bowls or 12 oz. ramekins with non-stick cooking spray.
If using sausage or a meat that needs cooking, brown it in a skillet over medium-high heat; discard grease. Set aside.
For each serving, start with about 2 T. of each ingredient.
First layer: sauce; second layer choice of toppings; third layer: cheese. Repeat.
Place bowls/remekins on a baking sheet.
Bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese starts to bubble and gets slightly golden brown on top. If wanting the cheese to brown, broil for the last minute or two of baking.
Allow to cool for 3-5 minutes before serving.
4 servings.
*Protein choices: sausage, ground beef; turkey sausage, pepperoni; ground chicken.
**Topping choices: black olives, onion, bell peppers, green onions. To add more flavor, saute veggies for a few minutes with the meat, but it isn't necessary.
