This dish is great as an appetizer, but is hearty enough for a meal, if desired. Serve with sour cream, guacalmole, black olives...it's up to you!
1 lb. lean ground beef
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
8 oz. sour cream
3/4 c. mayo
1 envelope taco seasoning, your choice of mildness
1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
2 c. shredded cheddar cheese, Mexican blend
4 c. shredded lettuce
2 medium tomatoes, diced
1 small onion, diced or 1/2 bunch green onions
1 medium green pepper, diced
tortilla chips
additional sour cream or guacamole, for garnish (optional)
In a small bowl, beat cream cheese, sour cream and mayo until smooth. Spread mixture on a 12-14 inch pizza pan or serving dish. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
In a saucepan over medium heat, brown beef; drain. Add taco seasoning and tomato sauce; cook and stir for 5 minutes. Cool completely. Spread over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate.
Right before serving, sprinkle with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onion and green pepper. Serve with chips.
Garnish with sour cream of guacamole, if desired.
